Job Description:

As an Ironworker specializing in ship building and damage repair, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and seaworthiness of vessels. Operating within the dynamic maritime industry of the Netherlands, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks associated with metalwork, welding, and repair techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Ship Structure Fabrication: Fabricate and install structural components of ships, including hulls, bulkheads, and decks, according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Welding and Joining: Utilize various welding techniques such as arc, MIG, and TIG welding to join metal components, ensuring high-quality welds and adherence to safety standards.
  • Damage Assessment and Repair: Conduct thorough inspections to identify structural damages and defects in vessels. Perform necessary repairs and modifications to restore functionality and safety.
  • Metal Cutting and Shaping: Operate cutting and shaping equipment such as plasma cutters, grinders, and saws to prepare metal surfaces and fabricate components as per requirements.
  • Material Handling: Safely handle and transport metal materials, tools, and equipment within the shipyard or repair facility.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations throughout all stages of ship construction and repair activities, promoting a culture of safety among team members.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other tradespeople, including welders, pipefitters, and electricians, to coordinate efforts and ensure timely completion of projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ironworking, preferably in ship building and damage repair.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and metal fabrication methods.
  • Sound knowledge of ship construction principles, marine materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Valid certifications in welding and occupational safety (e.g., welding certifications, OSHA training) are advantageous.
  • Valid Driving Licence
  • English or Dutch language Mandatory
  • Only EU Citizens holding an EU Passport may apply.
